Scrutinizer Network Mapping

Visualize network traffic: Maps come to life in Scrutinizer where links change color based on utilization and clicking on links brings up the top talkers and conversations within the last minute!

  • Maps are 100% configurable via a web browser
  • Drag icons in the web interface and save settings if permissions allow
  • Create links to other favorite 3rd party applications
  • Click on flow devices and bring up the top interfaces on that device
  • Create high level maps with links to other maps that indicate status
  • Integrates with Google mapping architecture
  • Put a single device in multiple maps (i.e. groups)
  • Status of icons based on whether netflow is being received
  • Syslogs sent if interfaces go down or if utilization hits a threshold
  •  Links change color based on utilization and the arrow represents the direction

Scrutinizer Custom Reporting

Report on stored NetFlow and sFlow data:
Custom Reports will allow the user to configure very detailed reports:
  •  IP Addresses, ranges and subnets
  •  Port numbers and ranges
  •  Defined Applications which include ranges of protocols
  •  Combine interfaces from multiple routers
  •  Specify bandwidth for the combined interfaces
  •  Scalable interface for hundreds of routers

Scrutinizer Connections for Google Maps

Displayed connections between devices with color coded indicators based on utilization have long been a fan favorite in Scrutinizer’s Flash Maps.

It was only a matter of time before we ported this feature over to the Google Maps portion of the product.

Scrutinizer Service Level Reporting

Verify application availability and uptime: Leverage Scrutinizer NetFlow & sFlow Analyzer to help verify availability of the applications and services that your business depends on.

Scrutinizer allows you to verify application availability while simultaneously letting you review traffic levels.

Scrutinizer VoIP and QoS Analysis

Analyze traffic used by VoIP related services:
Voice over IP (VoIP) Analysis is assisted by Scrutinizer by verifying:

  • How much voice traffic is historically on the connection
  • What devices are involved with the most VoIP traffic
  • The possible call volume that should be supported through the connection
  • Group ranges of ports into one VoIP application
  •  All VoIP vendors supported: Asterisk, Cisco, Nortel, Avaya, etc.

Applications defined by combination of ports and IP addresses

The highlight of this feature is that it allows applications to share ports. Application groups can be configured for combinations of IPv4 addresses and ports; either individual, ranges, or all.

For example, you can now configure multiple web applications for port 80, and track specific web page activity.

All Scrutinizer  reports can be emailed on demand or scheduled for regular time intervals

This feature includes both the Status and Alarms tabs. While viewing a saved report from the Status tab, a series of icons are available to select from, which include both Schedule and Email. This allows you to create a report that’s exactly to your specifications. You can choose to have the report emailed to you immediately by clicking Email, or by clicking Schedule you can schedule the report to arrive on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

These email options are also available in the Alarms view. The icons in the Alarms tab are located in the top right of the screen, including (from left to right) Email, Schedule, RSS Feed, CSV export, and Help.

Scrutinizer CSV and RSS output of all reports

Have you ever wanted to view Scrutinizer data in your favorite RSS reader or extract report information to manipulate or view in Microsoft Excel?

Scrutinizer supports the ability to extract a CSV or create an RSS feed for any report in Scrutinizer’s reporting interface, even if the report is not saved or scheduled.

Scrutinizer Third Party Integration

Scrutinizer integrates with third party products:
Scrutinzer provides an easy to use and complete NetFlow analysis solution. Plixer has included "hooks" into the software to provide 3rd party application vendors and professional services organizations a comprehensive, yet easy method to access information within the Scrutinizer software architecture.

Utilizing simple web technology, Scrutinizer allows anyone to easily assemble a URL to directly search and display important information regarding the activity of a specific host or application throughout your network.

The following are a list of products Scrutinizer integrates with:
  • WhatsUp Gold v12 - View Scrutinizer details through the WhatsUp Gold v12 interface.
  • WhatsUp Gold v11 - Add a Scrutinizer icon within WhatsUp Gold v11 and launch WhatsUp Gold from within Scrutinizer.
  • WhatsUp Professional - Add Scrutinizer icons within WhatsUp Professional 2006 and launch Top Hosts without having to leave your favorite network mapping tool.
  • SolarWinds - Embed the Scrutinizer logo into Orion and click to get network traffic details without having to close SolarWinds.
  • InterMapper - Add Scrutinizer icons within InterMapper and launch Top Hosts without having to leave your favorite network mapping tool. This is an amazing complete NMS and it is free for up to 5 devices.
  • Packeteer - Get Packeteer hardware to send NetFlow data to Scrutinizer using PacketSeeker.
  • CrossCheck - Watch network devices via Scrutinizer and other applications through a centralized dashboard. CrossCheck consolidates application alerts or errors and helps alleviate device naming inconsistencies between applications.
  • Host Finder - Is a particular host causing problematic traffic patterns? Just launch Host Finder, from within Scrutinizer, and turn off that user's access to the port they are connected to.
  • Track-It! - Add a Scrutinizer icon inside of the Track-It! Asset Information tab to provide a quick launch link to that device in Scrutinizer.
  • NimBUS - Quickly launch the Scrutinizer status page from NimBUS maps.
  • SNMPc7 - Make a hyperlink out of network device icons that launch Scrutinizer with a single click.
  • Logalot - Insert a Scrutinizer icon that launches a search on specific devices violating Logalot policies.
  • Denika - Add a Denika icon into Scrutinizer that launches SNMP trends on that device.
  • Zenoss - The Scrutinizer ZenPack provides direct integration between Zenoss and Scrutinizer. Together Zenoss Enterprise and Scrutinizer offer an integrated solution enabling network engineers to quickly identify network problems and begin troubleshooting immediately.

Scrutinizer Subnet to subnet reporting

Scrutinizer’s new reporting interface allows you to quickly view traffic in numerous different ways. One of the newest ways is subnet-to-subnet reporting.

Through IP addresses and subnet masks, we are able to quickly identify subnet-to-subnet reporting. This report can be very useful in MPLS environments.

Scrutinizer biDirectional Reporting

Within Scrutinizer trend reporting we’ve always allowed you to view your traffic direction, inBound or outBound.

biDirectional reporting is a third option to the trend navigation, allowing you to view both inBound and outBound traffic simultaneously.

Scrutinizer Current Reports  – reporting engine

Custom reporting in Scrutinizer has become extremely easy and full featured over custom reporting in its previous version.

Filtering capabilities include, but are not limited to, applications, autonomous system, host to host, IP ranges (up to class A networks),  type of service, TCP flags, and multiple interfaces (across multiple exporters).

The Current Reports reporting engine will certainly appease any user attempting to extract information out of his or her Cisco NetFlow. Scrutinizer has been designed to gain access to specific reporting without all the clicks.

Scrutinizer ToS  and DSCP reporting

Scrutinizer’s ToS and DSCP reporting abilities have been made better in the new Scrutinizer by increasing visibility into DSCP ToS Mapping.

Network administrators are able to see exactly how traffic is being processed with respect to Cisco QoS implementations, by displaying both inbound and outbound network traffic in one graph.

When it comes to Cisco NetFlow monitoring, more visibility without sacrificing speed is the goal.
